Convergent Pentra-Sil (AC)

Convergent Pentra-Sil (AC)

Stop concrete sweating and efflorescence at the source. Pentra-Sil AC is a lithium-based treatment designed for sweating slabs, efflorescing surfaces, and high pH concrete floors. It neutralizes surface alkalinity, reduces moisture vapor transmission, and hardens the concrete to improve abrasion resistance.

  • Stops slab sweating and efflorescence
  • Neutralizes high pH surfaces
  • Densifies and hardens concrete

How It Works

Concrete sweating and efflorescence share the same root cause: moisture moving upward through the slab. As water vapor travels through the concrete’s pore structure, it carries dissolved calcium and alkaline salts to the surface. When that moisture evaporates, the salts get left behind as white efflorescence deposits. High pH at the surface makes this worse by attracting even more moisture, creating a cycle that keeps the floor wet and leaves salt residue behind.

Pentra-Sil AC breaks this cycle in two ways. First, it neutralizes excess surface alkalinity, which reduces the driving force that pulls moisture upward. Second, the lithium silicate chemistry reacts with free lime in the concrete to form calcium silicate hydrate within the pores. This densifies the surface layer, reducing porosity and limiting the pathways moisture can use to reach the surface.

The result is a floor that stays drier, resists efflorescence, and holds up better to abrasion and traffic.

What Makes It Different

Most lithium silicate densifiers focus on hardening and dustproofing. Pentra-Sil AC is formulated specifically to address alkalinity problems. Where standard densifiers can actually raise surface pH (especially sodium and potassium silicate products), Pentra-Sil AC neutralizes it. This makes it the right choice when high pH is causing sweating, efflorescence, or adhesive and coating failures.

For difficult cases with severe or persistent symptoms, Pentra-Sil AC pairs with Pentra-Sil C&N in a two-step treatment. C&N cleans and neutralizes first, then AC follows to densify and provide lasting protection.

Densifies and hardens the concrete surface using Nano-Lithium technology, increasing abrasion resistance and reducing dusting.

Breathable formula that won’t trap moisture beneath coatings or cause blistering and peeling.

Low VOC and low odor with VOC content below 50 g/L. Suitable for occupied buildings and LEED projects.

Simple application using spray, scrub, and rinse. Surface is ready for use or coating once dry.

Warehouses & Industrial

HIGH-TRAFFIC CONCRETE FLOORS

Reduces sweating and efflorescence on distribution center floors, manufacturing facilities, mechanical rooms, and storage areas where moisture causes slip hazards or interferes with coatings and floor markings.

Commercial & Institutional

OCCUPIED BUILDINGS AND PUBLIC SPACES

Ideal for retail spaces, schools, offices, healthcare facilities, lobbies, and common areas where a dry, clean floor surface matters for safety, appearance, and maintenance.

Specialty & Sensitive Environments

FOOD, PHARMA, AND REGULATED FACILITIES

Low VOC formula is suitable for food and beverage plants, pharmaceutical facilities, laboratories, cold storage, and wastewater treatment plants where chemical emissions and floor safety are closely controlled.

Exterior & Service Areas

GARAGES, HANGARS, AND LOADING ZONES

Addresses sweating and salt deposits in parking garages, aircraft hangars, fire station bays, auto service areas, loading docks, and sidewalks exposed to temperature swings and humidity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a concrete densifier and a concrete sealer?

Concrete densifiers penetrate the surface and chemically react with the concrete to permanently harden and strengthen the material from within. They reduce dusting and porosity but do not form a protective barrier on top. Concrete sealers, on the other hand, either penetrate to add water repellency or form a film on the surface to block moisture and stains.

What causes concrete sweating and efflorescence?

High surface pH attracts moisture upward through the slab via vapor transmission. As that moisture evaporates, it leaves calcium and alkaline salts behind as white efflorescence. The wet surface and salt deposits are both symptoms of the same underlying alkalinity and vapor drive problem.

How is Pentra-Sil AC applied?

Spray the product evenly onto the concrete, scrub it in with an auto scrubber or stiff broom, and keep the surface wet for about 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and remove all residue. The floor is ready for use or coating application once dry.

When should I use Pentra-Sil C&N first?

For severe or persistent sweating and efflorescence, apply Pentra-Sil C&N first to clean and neutralize the surface, then follow with Pentra-Sil AC. This two-step approach handles more difficult cases that a single treatment won’t resolve.

Can coatings be applied over treated concrete?

Yes. By lowering surface pH and reducing moisture vapor transmission, Pentra-Sil AC helps prevent adhesive failure and coating delamination. Paints, epoxies, and other floor coatings can be applied once the surface is dry.

Will it fix cracks or damaged concrete?

No. Pentra-Sil AC is a surface treatment, not a structural repair. Fix cracks, spalling, or honeycombed areas before application. The product won’t bridge or fill defects.
